Community Engagement
Research is most meaningful when it serves practice. My community engagement work ranges from grant writing and focus groups to student field trips and report-back sessions: all grounded in the belief that academic resources should flow toward community priorities.
Research Translation
I develop community reports, accessible guides, and report-back sessions that translate complex findings into actionable insights. These sessions create space for participants to engage with results, workshop conclusions, and shape how research outcomes are framed and shared.

Funding & Capacity Building
As a grant writing consultant for nonprofits, I help build organizational capacity and secure funding to support local climate adaptation work. In my graduate research, I've pursued public scholarship grants that prioritize dispersing funds directly to community partners, ensuring that resources flow toward on-the-ground impact.

Field-Based Learning
I design educational experiences that connect students directly with communities addressing climate challenges. This includes organizing field trips where students learn about climate adaptation from residents and practitioners working on the ground. I've also facilitated workshops for high school students to explore climate change and natural hazards in their own communities.
Working with the Climate Ready North Fair Oaks coalition, we co-developed a pilot "Mobile Resilience Hub," a portable air conditioning and filtration system designed to address extreme heat and smoke in a low-income, immigrant community. This project emerged directly from ongoing conversations with residents and local stakeholders. Learn more in a video:
